YKD participates in WHAF held in Istanbul
The World Humanitarian Action Forum (WHAF) launched work in Istanbul, on Tuesday, under the slogan...
As part of our efforts to enhance humanitarian partnerships and deepen our understanding of international aid mechanisms, we had the privilege of attending a special introductory session at the United Nations Visitors Centre in Geneva. This visit offered an important opportunity to gain insight into the history, mandate, and global mission of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and to better understand its role in supporting and protecting refugees and displaced populations worldwide.
During the session, we learned about the evolution of UNHCR since its establishment and the major challenges it faces amid escalating global humanitarian crises. We also engaged in a rich interactive discussion covering several joint humanitarian projects and exploring future cooperation opportunities aimed at strengthening field-based responses for communities living under extremely difficult conditions.
We were struck by the professionalism and dedication of the UNHCR team, whose commitment to maintaining meaningful engagement and building partnerships—despite budget constraints and operational pressures—reflects their deep humanitarian responsibility toward millions of vulnerable people across the globe.
This visit not only broadened our understanding but also reinforced our commitment at Yardım Köprüsü to continue supporting displaced and vulnerable communities. We believe that strengthening this type of interaction with international partners contributes to developing more effective and sustainable humanitarian solutions.
